Recently an Indian couple living in Norway was separated from their children on undisclosed grounds after Norwegian authorities asserted that the parents were not in a position to take care of their children. The children (aged 3 and 6 years) were sent to a child care center and ordered to live there till they turn adults, simply because the parents were sleeping together with them. What the Norwegian authorities failed to see was that in India it is common for parents to sleep with children especially when they were young. In fact this is taken as a sign that the parents care for their children. It very well exemplifies the concept of "Ethnocentrism". What is worse is that the Indian Government was very late in responding and coming to the rescue of its people. If such acts are allowed to continue we will be risking the very existence of our own Indian culture.

Norway exemplifies what extreme ethnocentrism is
